Indies explode onto Nintendo Switch

From turn-based games to platformers, the Nintendo library is quickly expanding with quality independent games, writes BRYAN TURNER.

Rhythm game: Double Kick Heroes

Getting players moving, like the Wii did, Double Kick Heroes is about shooting zombies by air drumming the Switch Joy-Con controllers, just like you’d hammer a drum kit. Players will have no choice but to master the Double Kick (a drumming technique used to speed up music) if they want to survive, as they thrash to 30 metal tracks, specially composed by Elmobo for the game. Play through Arcade Mode or venture into the Story Mode, where players will come across some of their own Heavy Metal Heroes. The game will be available for download. later in 2919.

Puzzle-Platformer: Inmost

Inmost is an atmospheric, story-driven puzzle platformer, following three playable characters. Play as a knight, a young girl, or a creature that feeds on pain, in one dark, interconnecting story. The story starts in an old abandoned castle, where you’ll need to explore every nook and cranny, avoid detection, slice your way through enemies, and spring deadly traps in order to escape the evil that lurks within. The game will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop this year.

2D open-world: Forager

Forager is a game inspired by exploration, farming, and crafting games such as The Legend of Zelda, Stardew Valley, and Ter, raria. Gather, collect, and manage resources as you deem fit. Starting from nothing, you must improve your base, skills, equipment, network of friends (and enemies), and build your future. The game will be available for download in the first quarter of this year from the Nintendo eShop.
