New Need for Speed brings the Heat

Need for Speed Heat adds another high-speed adventure to the iconic franchise, this time with underground races and more authentic car culture.

Ghost Games has announced Need for Speed Heat is available worldwide on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Origin for PC. Need for Speed Heat sends players to Palm City, a new open-world where street racers choose their way to play; earn Bank in sanctioned events by day, or risk it all to build Rep in underground races by night. Big risks could mean big rewards, it’s up to the player to make the call.

“At its core Need for Speed is about custom rides, adrenaline-filled races with cops and without them and showcasing the latest in-car customisation,” says Riley Cooper, Creative Director at Ghost Games. “With Need for Speed Heat we’ve dialled those core tenants up and dropped them into a vibrant new world. Heat offers two firsts for the series including a unique day and night cycle that offers players two ways to play, and customisable avatars so they can express themselves beyond just their wheels.”

In Need for Speed Heat, players can drive the hybrid-electric performance, Polestar 1, as well as some of the most iconic car brands in the world. The game also offers the deepest customisation the series has seen, including a range of options for both performance and style, which gives players the tools they need to create their high-octane, anything-goes, dream car. Additionally, as another first for the franchise, Need for Speed Heat features character customisation, giving players 12 preset avatars to choose from to further adapt their own style. Clothing and accessories from PUMA, Life’s a Beach, End Clothing and other well-known brands, ensure that players will be going full throttle with the latest fashion when they hit the streets of Palm City.

Need for Speed Heat also introduces players to a bright, new urban environment that becomes a dangerous neon playground once the sunsets. Taking inspiration from Miami – a vibrant city with a multicultural blend of music, cool street art and stunning night lights – Palm City is a street-racer’s paradise. Day and night are at the core of progression in Need for Speed Heat. During the day, players race in a series of sanctioned events to build Bank. At night, they must engage in illicit racing to establish themselves and reap extra Rep. When the sun goes down things heat up, but the rewards are there for the fearless.

EA Access and Origin Access Basic subscribers can enjoy up to 10 hours of playtime, along with 10% off the purchase of the full game. Origin Access Premier subscribers get all the benefits of Basic on top of full access to the game on PC for as long as they are subscribed.

Resident Evil 3 gets remaster

The iconic PlayStation game, Resident Evil 3, modernises the climactic events of Raccoon City in April 2020.

This week on PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, Capcom celebrated the 20th anniversary of the survival horror classic Resident Evil 3: Nemesis by unveiling a reimagined version of the game. On the heels of the award-winning Resident Evil 2, this highly demanded follow-up once again utilises Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to complete the Raccoon City story arc.
Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine – one of video games’ most iconic heroines – as she escapes from a crumbling Raccoon City while being pursued by the unrelenting bioweapon Nemesis. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance.

The game is set amidst the nightmarish outbreak of the T-virus, a biological weapon developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. It marks the debut of Nemesis – a towering humanoid bioweapon designed for both brutality and high-functioning intelligence – whose dogged hunt of S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine made him an icon of the Resident Evil series. Armed with an arsenal of high-powered weaponry and wrapped in a black suit to hide his mutilated features, Nemesis will maim, pulverize or destroy any obstacle on the path to his target.

Jill’s harrowing escape takes place in the panic-stricken hours leading up to and following the events of the acclaimed best-selling Resident Evil 2. Intense combat and puzzle solving combine to deliver the heart-pounding final chapter of Raccoon City’s collapse. The horrific settings from the original game and new content come to life as never before with RE Engine, previously utilized to create the acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5 with high-definition graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics.

Complementing the action-packed single player campaign is Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 multiplayer game originally unveiled as a working title at Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. As the Mastermind behind the scenes, players can assume the role of key Resident Evil characters like Annette Birkin in a series of deadly experiments. Manipulate the environment and wield a deck of cards to place vicious creatures, set traps and weaponized security cameras to snare hapless Survivors. A first for the franchise, Masterminds can directly control elite bioweapons like G-Birkin and Tyrant. In turn, four Survivors must effectively work together, making the most of a variety of weapons and each player’s unique special abilities, to stand a chance of escaping the experiment before time runs out.

Resident Evil 3 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam for PC on 3 April 2020. Those who pre-order will also receive the exclusive Classic Costume Pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira.
