Canon has boosted its PowerShot range with the unveiling of two powerful digital still cameras. Designed to provide users with greater control and flexibility, the new PowerShot S100 and PowerShot SX40 HS pack Canon’s imaging technologies into compact, versatile bodies.

Canon has boosted its PowerShot range with the unveiling of two powerful digital still cameras. Designed to provide users with greater control and flexibility, the new PowerShot S100 and PowerShot SX40 HS pack Canon’s imaging technologies into compact, versatile bodies to ensure images are delivered with maximum detail. Combining manual control with a host of intuitive and creative features, both models make it easy for users to experiment with different settings, or simply point and shoot.

Packed with upgrades, the PowerShot S100 marks a true step forward for the PowerShot S-series. Its 24mm ultra-wide angle, 5.0x optical zoom genuine Canon lens provides power and flexibility, and combines with Canon’s Intelligent Image Stabilizer (IS) system to deliver crisp, clear images in stills and movies. The new GPS functionality can record the time and location of every shot and log your journey, Full HD movie recording captures high-resolution video, and the powerful DIGIC 5 processor offers fast shooting speeds and better image quality in all conditions. All of these new features come in a slim body measuring just 26.7mm front-to-back, available in matte black and titanium silver variants.

Providing high image quality, the PowerShot SX40 HS is among the first PowerShot models to feature Canon’s new DIGIC 5 image processor which boosts the performance of the HS System and offers advanced shooting options as well as supporting Full HD (1080p) movie capture. The zoom range allows any subject to be captured with ease, from high-speed action at the racetrack to distant wildlife on the African plains and abstract close-ups, without the need to change the lens. New Intelligent IS technology also ensures still images are crisp, and video footage is smooth and clear.
