Patrick Melrose on Showmax
The Patrick Melrose series, based on novels by Edward St. Aubyn, moves from Patrick’s childhood in the South of France in the 1960s to debauched 1980s New York and sober Britain in the early 2000s. It has won multiple BAFTA awards, the British equivalent of the Oscars.

This five-part limited series is based on the acclaimed novels by Edward St. Aubyn. It tracks Patrick from a privileged but deeply traumatic childhood in the South of France, through severe substance abuse in his twenties in New York and, ultimately, toward recovery back home in Britain. Patrick Melrose (Benedict Cumberbatch) gleefully skewers the British upper class through the story of an aristocratic and funny playboy struggling to overcome the damage inflicted by an abusive father (Hugo Weaving , The Matrix and The Lord of The Rings) and a mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight) who tacitly condoned the behaviour.
Benedict Cumberbatch won his first BAFTA for Best British Actor for his title role in Patrick Melrose, which also won Best Mini-Series, Writer, and Production Design.
The five part mini-series is available to stream now on Showmax.
