It really pays to be a law abiding citizen
Time is running out for Cell C customers to register for RICA before the January 31, 2010 ‚win your number’ competition cut off.
One lucky Cell C customer stands to win his/her number in cash i.e. if the person’s number is 084 431 2661, he/she will be allocated a sum of money in direct proportion to his/her phone number i.e. R8,431,266.10.
Cell C’s executive head of marketing, Simon Camerer, says the company wanted to send a clear and simple message to the public, that it pays to be a law abiding citizen. ‚The campaign is aimed at all Cell C prepaid, postpaid and ControlChat subscribers as well as those customers who have ported from other networks and are RICA registered and active on the Cell C network by 31 January 2010.‚
He says Cell C customers who have already registered for RICA, before the start of the campaign, and are active on the Cell C network, are also eligible.
RICA became law in South Africa on 1 July 2009. Contract and prepaid subscribers who have activated their cell phone numbers before the 1st of July 2009 have to register their personal details against that cell phone number / SIM card in order to comply with this act, within 18 months.
To register for RICA, customers need to present proof of their identity and physical address to RICA registration officers. Those living in informal residences can provide the address of a school or church closest to the area in which they live. Alternately, Cell C customers can simply complete and present the specially designed forms, available at all Cell C outlets, as proof of residence.
Camerer says the win your number in cash promotion will end on 31 January 2010 and the winner will be selected by a lucky draw on 15 February 2010.
