Passport 360 cuts safety process by 99%

All companies are obliged to compile Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) documentation.

Usually, the manual compilation and reporting can take up to 20 man hours. In the mining industry, it’s a constant process, and massively time-consuming.

Now smart solution Passport 360 has cut these 20 hours down to three minutes – a massive 99.75% time saving.

The speed improvement is thanks to Passport 360’s built-in Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which allows for custom documentation to be compiled in minutes. “It provides for a greater level of real-time intelligence and insight into SHEQ,” says Passport 360 director and co-founder Siobahn Whitehead.

The dashboard view feature consolidates all contractor SHEQ documentation into a high-level dashboard, again for real-time access of all data, which can be managed and interpreted accordingly – an enormous effort to undertake using paper-based systems.

This is because paper-based systems are impossible to monitor and audit effectively in real-time. For example, 200 paper files will take an average 400 days to conduct a comprehensive review, rendering it near impossible to ensure that all crucial SHEQ information is reviewed manually within the space of a single year.

Without consistent monitoring and review, SHEQ information quickly becomes outdated, thereby ramping up the risk considerably. Digitising these records and then applying Passport 360’s built-in RPA allows for mining operations to better pursue the industry’s ultimate goal of zero harm.

This also has significant implications for clients in terms of transparency and security. Whitehead says: “Passport 360 allows contractors to access client systems and information without exposing those internal systems.”

Passport 360 is equally capable of partnering with mining and resource companies in order to onboard their contractors more efficiently and quickly, thereby ensuring that they can be up and running in hardly any time at all.

“Our smart technology has a range of significant benefits for our mining clients, from real-time SHEQ monitoring and reporting, to highly-advanced onboarding,” said Whitehead. “It allows us to provide our mining clients with a complete solution that slashes their risk, allowing them to focus on their core business of mining.”

In a first for Galaxy devices, the Galaxy A80 is equipped with Samsung’s rotating triple camera, which provides the same high-quality lens, front and rear, so users can have the same quality selfies as rear camera pictures. The rotating triple camera allows users to record footage continuously, even if they rotate the camera during recording, so front and rear recordings can be captured in one video.

Samsung says its on-device camera technology allows users to take clear and bright photos even in low light conditions with the 48MP main camera. The Ultra-Wide Lens has a 123-degree viewing angle on rear shots.

Its 3D Depth Camera allows users to capture subjects with more depth, letting them create movie-like clips with features like Live Focus Video mode. Super Steady Video mode reduces bumps or shakes for pro-level action videos.

The handset features Samsung’s first New Infinity Display, an edge-to-edge, 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen. With a 20:9 display ratio, the New Infinity Display allows one to fully engage in multimedia content. It comes with Dolby Atmos when using earphones or Bluetooth speakers.

“Galaxy A80 is created for the Era of Live – a world where digital natives are capturing, sharing and connecting in the moment,” said Justin Hume, director of integrated mobility at Samsung South Africa. “The latest innovations in the camera, design and performance of Galaxy A80 bring a new mobile experience that fits the needs of today’s generation: always on and always ready.”

As part of the Galaxy experience, the handset features Samsung Knox, Samsung’s defence-grade security platform designed to protect, from chipset to software. In addition, Samsung Pass allows users to access apps and websites through fingerprint sensor.

The device features AI-powered performance optimisation software, which maximises the device’s CPU, RAM and battery capacity, tailoring the device to the user’s everyday needs.

Galaxy A80 comes in three colours: Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black. The Angel Gold and Ghost White options come with hints of pink and blue respectively. The device is selling now for a recommended retail price of R11799.
