CES 2012: iPad cover speakers boosts sound 300%

The Nodric Enterprises has announced the Sound Cover, an iPad 2 cover with built-in flat NXT stereo speakers, at the consumer Electronics Show. The cover is said to boost the iPad 2’s volume by as much as 300%.

Sound Cover has two unique features:

– Rechargeable NXT stereo speakers built into an ultra-thin and durable ABS case

– Integrated aluminium speaker stand with bass boost function.

Sound Cover features a low weight / high stiffness honeycomb sandwich panel to generate a full bandwidth speaker with excellent low, mid-range and high frequency performance. An optimized nitrile rubber surround is used to provide specific damping to the panel whilst allowing sufficient excursion to produce full range sound. The unique nature of the bending wave technology generates sound from both sides of the speaker panel to produce room filling sound.

The system is powered by a built-in lithium-ion battery with an outstanding battery life of over 12 hours. Sound Cover has a USB cable that can be connected to a computer or USB power source to charge the internal battery. The speaker is connected to the iPad through a 3.5mm jack. The volume is managed by using iPad’s standard controls. Sound Cover allows full access to all iPad buttons and ports, automatically sleeps or wakes up the iPad just like the Apple Smart Cover, and serves as a video/picture viewing stand and typing support.
