On the 50th anniversary of the first manned moon landing, we share a series of videos showing the rediscovery by South African engineer of the first Apollo computer guidance system.

Thought to be lost, it was bought as scrap and existed as little more than a rumour until Francios Rautenbach tracked it down and extracted the software.

He tells the story over a series of videos (below) that were first brought to the world’s attention by Gadget in 2016:
