LG’s 3D Gaming Festival F1 2011 racing championship, held last week in Johannesburg and designed to show off the manufacturer’s gaming capabilities on the Cinema 3D TV was won by 14-year old Wesley Vosloo. He walks away with a grand prize of two tickets to the 2010 Australian F1 Grand Prix.
The 14-year old Wesley Vosloo from Johannesburg was crowned champ of the LG 3D Gaming Festival F1 2011 racing championship on Saturday 3 December and will be jetting off to the Australian for a VIP F1 Grand Prix experience next year.
The young Wesley competed against 33 contestants from across South Africa at the LG Gaming Festival, which took place last week between 30 November and 4 December at the Sandton City Fountain Court in Johannesburg.
Wesley emerged as the winner, as he gradually choked out older and more experienced contestants with his amazing racing skills. Even professional racers, Gary Formato and Gugu Zulu, who attended the festival, were impressed by the youngster’s skills.
‚I’m really happy about winning and getting the chance to go see a Grand Prix race overseas. The competition was not easy and all the contestants were hard to beat, but I did it. It was a very well organised competition and I am glad I entered,‚ says Wesley.
The second place spot went to Mario Louw, from Cape Town winning himself a 47‚ LG Cinema 3D TV and LG 3D Blu-ray player while Jaco Weideman, from Boksburg and Marius Schoeman, from Pretoria took third and fourth positions respectively, each walking away with a 42‚ LG Cinema 3D TV.
LG’s 3D Gaming Festival is part of the company’s global initiative to showcase the 3D gaming capabilities of its Cinema 3D TV, launched this year.
‚This event was a huge success and judging from the interest of the South African public our Cinema 3D TV with its flicker-free, wide viewing angle and bright viewing 3D imaging, is definitely a favourite in LG’s Home Entertainment product category, and at the top of many consumer’s Christmas wish lists,‚ says Michael Bang, Head of Marketing at LG Electronics South Africa.
LG’s brand new Plasma Pentouch TV was also a highlight at the 3D gaming festival and attracted a lot of interest from the young and business people alike.
‚As a result of the success and interest in the LG 3D Gaming Festival locally, we are considering making this an annual event,‚ concludes Bang.
