The Model Y is Tesla’s fifth car to market and marks the company’s second attempt at producing a mass-market electric vehicle.

“An SUV that will ride like a sports car,” said Elon Musk at the Model Y launch event. The South African-born CEO was referring to the performance version of the SUV, which is claimed to reach 100kph in 3.5 seconds from stationary.

Models expected to be released in the second half of 2020 include a long-range ($47 000/R680 000), all-wheel drive ($51 000/R740 000), and performance model ($60 000/~R870 000). A cheaper commercial model is expected to launch in 2021.

The seven-passenger vehicle’s interior will feature a touchscreen control panel on the dashboard, similar to the Model 3. It will also sport a panoramic sunroof.

“The cool thing is, it’s ‘feature complete,’” said Musk, with reference to the fitted sensors. “It will be able to do basically anything just with software upgrades.”

Epson’s HDR-compatible projectors combine the latest imaging technologies to add extra colour detail to video. They feature 4K resolution enhancements to enhance textures and sharpness on a projected image, whether they’re displaying native 4K content or digitally upscaling 1K 1080p content.

The projectors are also designed to support the most advanced content, including HDR and 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. This gives users a sharper visual experience with more depth, detail, and better colours, at sRGB colour range.

The EH-TW9300 and EH-TW9300W projectors deliver definition, with a high contrast ratio of up to 1 000 000:1. Colours are also rich and vivid thanks to Epson’s 3LCD panels, which emit an equally high White and Colour Light Output of 2300 lumens (EH-TW7300) or 2500 lumens (EH-TW9300/ EH-TW9300W).

Keeping maintenance to a minimum, these projectors have a long lamp life that allows the user to watch a film every day on the big screen for the next seven years.

With the EH-TW9300W 4K WirelessHD projector, it’s possible to stream content to a projector from a smartphone, games console, Blu-ray player, among others. The 4K WiHD transmitter makes it possible to view high-quality 4K content over WiHD, also providing flexibility when positioning the projector.

The EH-TW7300, EH-TW9300 and EH-TW9300W are available in South Africa through Sounds Great and selected leading audio-visual specialists. They are priced from R39 999, R44 999 and R 49 999.
