Qualcomm is shipping more than a million chips every single day, Chairman and CEO Paul Jacobs revealed in a keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday. He further discussed how mobile has become the largest technology platform in history, with $1.3 trillion in global wireless revenues and 1 million apps on the market today. Dr. Jacobs and a handful of industry thought leaders ‚ ranging from Nokia CEO Stephen Elop to Grover Monster from Sesame Street ‚ covered several important themes, including:

¬ß Snapdragon Traction ‚ ‚”There are already 300 devices using Snapdragon and another 350 in development. [‚Ķ] Snapdragon processors are all about doing more and charging less.‚

¬ß Mobile’s Global Impact ‚ “”The Internet did change the world, but mobile is having an even greater impact. Modern life is becoming mobile-centric. Nowhere is this more clear than in developing nations. For many people, mobile is the primary way they connect to the Internet. For some, particularly in emerging countries, it’s the only way.””

¬ß The Convergence of Consumer Technology Around Mobile ‚ ‚We believe all consumer electronics companies are already in the mobile business, or soon will be [‚Ķ] Your next PC will deliver always on, always connected experience, and that is something that we in the mobile industry know something about.‚

¬ß Collaboration with Microsoft ‚ ‚Every Windows Phone on the market today is powered by Snapdragon [‚Ķ] Windows 8 is a great match for Snapdragon because we build our processors from the ground up.‚

¬ß Mobile’s Ability to Improve Lives ‚ “”Mobile can advance learning by extending education beyond the physical confines of the classroom. [‚Ķ] Our mission is to continually push the boundaries of what’s possible in mobile.””

¬ß What’s Next ‚ ‚We’re only at the beginning of what’s possible for mobile. We’re shipping more than a million chips every single day. We’re excited about these trends we’ve talked about this morning. Whether you’re from a developing country or a developed country at the end of the day we’re all living in mobile countries. There are incredible opportunities ahead in this age of mobile.””
