CES 2010: LG demonstrates LTE USB modem performance
Selecting a device to accurately and easily test speeds of modems and networks can be a tricky task. LG however feels that it has found just the company and product to perform this task.
Anritsu has announced that the Anritsu MD8430A LTE signalling tester and MX786201A Rapid Test Designer (RTD) software has been selected by LG as a primary test solution for device development, integration, and performance testing.
Anritsu’s solution supports data rates higher than 100 Mbps in the downlink and 50 Mbps in the uplink. It also supports the latest 3GPP standards (June 2009 Baseline specification). As LG’s test equipment demonstration partner, the Anritsu solution and LG’s LTE USB modem were showcased at the LG booth during the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The demonstration will show maximum download speeds from a simulated LTE network to the LG LTE USB modem with the MD8430A signalling tester serving as the LTE base station and network simulator. The MX786201A RTD software will be used for test automation.
‚We are pleased to work with LG to demonstrate the exceptional performance of LG’s LTE USB Modem,” said Wade Hulon, vice president and general manager of Anritsu, Americas Sales Region. “”The combination of the MD8430A with RTD was the first LTE test solution of its kind and was developed based on Anritsu being actively involved in LTE standards organisations and working with LTE chipset and device manufacturers. It is helping our customers ensure the quality of their products, speed time to market, and reduce design and production test costs.””
Cost-effective LTE network simulation
The MD8430A is a high-performance, cost-effective LTE network simulator that allows manufacturers of LTE chipsets and mobile devices to evaluate products and improve time-to-market. It augments Anritsu’s broad 3G test portfolio, providing wireless developers with a single-source test solution company. The MD8430A provides test capability for protocol and application tests, including throughput, inter-RAT and intra-RAT, and is used as a building block for Anritsu’s Conformance Test systems. Built-in 4-RF capability allows for testing of 2×2 MIMO handoff and simulation of complex RF environments in a single instrument.
The MX786201A RTD software provides users with the power to create test cases far beyond that of traditional language-based tools. The RTD user interface offers an intuitive test case creation environment through ‚point and click‚ test case creation and easy-to-understand setting screens, allowing users to quickly build a library of working test cases. Features such as intelligent test case analysis and pass/fail criteria definition, along with elimination of the compile step needed with traditional tools, make RTD truly user-friendly.
