Bobotie, snoek, to win tech prizes

Samsung has created a competition with Chef Reuben Riffel where South Africans can submit their favourite recipes and stand a chance to win a share of R300 000 worth of Samsung products.

Samsung Electronics South Africa has teamed up with celebrity Chef Reuben Riffel in a campaign that celebrates the rich heritage of food. Winners of the For the Love of Food competition will see their beloved family recipes prepared by Riffel on SABC3’s Expresso and shared online, as well as receive their share of R300 000 worth of Samsung products.

Michelle Potgieter, Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung South Africa, says, “The campaign will honour South Africans’ zest for good food, great stories and tradition. The most unforgettable meals are cooked with passion and we are inviting consumers to share the history behind their recipes with a chance to win fantastic prizes. Special recipes can truly evoke memories for everyone – for me, my mother’s chocolate cake recipe still has this power and many South Africans have similar stories to share, whether it is that special Bobotie, Chocolate Mousse, Snoek Pat√© or Tripe.

As part of this competition, Samsung is calling on South Africans to prepare and showcase their favourite dish. The most delicious recipes will be featured on for consumers to download and try out. The site will be updated regularly with fresh content such as recipes, videos and photographs, alongside advice on how to use Samsung’s products. Celebrity Chef Reuben Riffel will also be sharing his tips and tricks on how to get the most out of Samsung’s array of kitchen solutions.

South Africans love to craft incredible, wholesome dishes that are original and memorable, whilst tapping into their heritage. This campaign will enable them to showcase these to an even wider audience and we are looking forward to collecting the real stories behind these truly South African dishes,” says Potgieter.
