Disney gets 12 Oscar nominations

The Walt Disney Company Africa has announce that it has acquired a combined 12 Academy Award nominations.

The following titles received nominations:

· War Horse (DreamWorks Studios, due for theatrical release in SA on 24 February 2012), 6 nominations:

o Best Picture ‚ Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, Producers

o Best Art Direction ‚ Rick Carter, Production Designer and Lee Sandalas, Set Decoration

o Best Cinematography ‚ Janusz Kaminski

o Best Music (Original Score) ‚ John Williams

o Best Sound Editing ‚ Richard Hymns and Gary Rydstrom

o Best Sound Mixing ‚ Gary Rydstrom, Andy Nelson, Tom Johnson and Stuart Wilson

· The Help (DreamWorks Studios, due for DVD/Blu-Ray release on 12 March 2012), 4 nominations:

o Best Picture ‚ Brunson Green, Chris Columbus and Michael Barbathan, Producers

o Best Actress in a Leading Role ‚ Viola Davis

o Best Actress in a Supporting Role ‚ Jessica Chastain

o Best Actress in a Supporting Role ‚ Octavia Spencer

· The Muppets (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, due for theatrical release in SA on 27 January 2012), 1 nomination:

o Best Music (Original Song) ‚ Man or Muppet, Music & Lyrics by Bret McKenzie

· Real Steel (DreamWorks Studios, due for DVD/Blu-Ray release on 2 April), 1 nomination:

o Best Visual Effects ‚ Erik Nash, John Rosengrant, Dan Taylor and Swen Gillberg

The 84th annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 26 February in Los Angeles.
