TikTok Springbok challenge goes viral

In a nail-biting semi-final, South Africa secured its spot in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final after beating Wales in Japan last week Saturday. Post the victory, South Africans all over the world took to social media to show their support and share their congratulations with the Springboks.

In light of the upcoming final match this weekend, TikTok – which describes itself as “the leading destination for short-form mobile video” – has launched the #BringItHomeBokke challenge, which urges South Africans to get behind the Bokke. Announced on Thursday day by Springbok player Lood De Jager, the challenge invites all TikTok creators across the world to post a video of themselves singing Shosholoza in support of the team, using #BringItHomeBokke and #WeGotUBokke.

The challenge ends today, 2 November 2019, and participants that create the best videos stand a chance of winning 1 of 5 official Springbok rugby jerseys.

In just two days the challenge has already gone viral, reaching over 6 million views.
