In a survey conducted by Pondering Panda, among the 2212 South African cellphone users surveyed, 78% said that they experienced dropped calls in the last month.
The results indicated that the level of dropped calls was similar across all four major cell phone networks.
Shirley Wakefield of Pondering Panda said: “The level of dropped calls should be of concern to the cellphone companies, as this is causing significant customer dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, it would appear that there is nowhere to hide for South African cellphone users, as the level of complaints is almost identical for the major service providers, which indicates that there is little point in porting to another network, as the problem appears to be a universal one.‚
The level of dropped calls is a problem in all cities in South Africa, and is experienced by all demographic groups.
