Samsung brings 85″ Ultra HD TV to SA

Samsung today announced its 85″ Ultra High Definition TV, which includes a 120-watt speaker system and retails for R385 000.

Blending technology excellence with exquisite design, the state-of-the-art 85S9 offers four times the resolution available on existing Full HD displays to deliver crystal-clear, unmatched clarity and vivid picture quality. The 85S9 also includes Samsung’s proprietary up-scaling engine which can convert HD or Full-HD to UHD-level picture quality by restoring detail information to create greater precision for real-life picture excellence.

The unique design creates the impression that the makes the TV is floating within its frame and showcases the classic, minimalist concept with a large, 85-inch display. A single cable is discreetly wired into the base, while a separate 1-connect box combines all other inputs into a central location eliminating clutter. At 85 inches, its large screen size contributes towards Samsung’s effort to meet consumer demand for larger-screen TVs, which is the fastest growing TV segment in the world.

Samsung is also addressing the current inconsistent UHD content standards with the 85S9, offering timeless compatibility with any type of upcoming UHD content with a build in Evolution Kit. The Evolution Kit ensures that consumers are able to take advantage of software as well as hardware developments as they occur in UHD and upgrade to the latest version. Consumers will now be able to watch UHD content regardless of standardisations now and into the future as the Evolution Kit will update the TV to meet the latest standards.

Rounding off the state-of-the-art 85-inch TV is an immersive audio experience to match its screen excellence, with 120-watt array speakers built seamlessly into the frame of the television. That is approximately six times that of general TVs.
