LG Flex – A phone to fit the face

Last night, LG announced the LG Flex, claimed to be the first curved phone designed to fit the human face. It features a 6″ plastic OLED display and offers a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720.

LG Electronics (LGE) last night announced that the G Flex, which it describes as the the world’s first smartphone designed to follow the curve of the human face, will become available to consumers in major European markets, including the U.K, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and Austria, next month. It will arrive in South Africa shortly thereafter.

To date, the LG G Flex has only been available in Asia (Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore), and is now being launched in 20 European countries. it was first showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year in Las Vegas.

According to Deon Prinsloo, Mobile Communications General Manager, at LG Electronics South Africa, the introduction of the LG G Flex in Europe demonstrates confidence in the global marketplace for a curved smartphone.

The LG G Flex, measuring six inches diagonally, is a record-setter in several areas. The Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display is the world’s largest developed and manufactured specifically for a smartphone.

The G Flex has the world’s first curved battery and is the first phone to feature a self-healing coating on the back cover, making it immune to minor scratches and nicks. The device also features the QTheatre user interface, Dual Window and Swing Lock screen designed specifically for the curved screen.
