FNB today announced that its customers can purchase iTunes gift codes for the iTunes Store in South Africa using the FNB Banking App.
‚”We believe that FNB customers will benefit greatly from the convenience of purchasing, sending or redeeming iTunes gift codes quickly and effortlessly via the FNB Banking App. The codes can be purchased using an FNB Cheque Account or by using eBucks accumulated through our eBucks Rewards Programme. A big plus is that you can pay in local currency with the added peace of mind that you do not divulge bank account details to a third party,‚” says Kartik Mistry, Head of Smart Devices at FNB’s Core Banking Solutions.
The iTunes gift codes are available from R150 to R3000, which makes them ideal for gifting over the festive season. Once a customer has chosen the value of their iTunes gift code they can choose whether the code is for their personal use, or if they would like to send the code as a gift via e-mail to a recipient of their choice.
‚”Using a digital code means that you never need to worry about misplacing or losing a physical card. Access to the South African iTunes Store provides easy access to local artists like Toya Delazy or Zahara, as well as international artists, alongside apps such as FIFA 2014, Angry Birds and Minecraft and movies including Planes, Despicable Me 2 and The Wolverine,‚” added Mistry.
After having been awarded with the Most Innovative Bank in the World award during the 2012 BAI – Finacle Global Banking Innovation Awards, enhancement on banking platforms and service offerings such as entertainment vouchers shows FNB’s continued dedication to innovation.
On this latest addition to the FNB App, Giuseppe Virgillito, Head of Banking App, FNB Mobile and Connect says:
‚”The FNB Banking App has launched a number of innovative products and services during 2013 to help make daily conveniences more accessible to customers. Most recently, Share Investing was released to its customers, as well as eBucks Rewards on the App. We are happy to end the year off with this latest innovation, just in time for the festive season.‚”
To sweeten the deal, FNB will, for a limited time only, give clients up to 40% of the purchase price back in eBucks. The discount will be based on their eBucks discount level.
‚”This announcement marks the first step in introducing entertainment purchases on our banking platforms,‚” concludes Mistry.
