At the Consumer Electronics Show, Opera and GooMe demonstrated a modular and portable OTT media solution for IPTV and/or hybrid IP/Broadcast delivery.

Opera Software and GooMe Interactive, an Over-The-Top (OTT) media solutions provider, recently announced a strategic technology partnership to deliver modular Web-based solutions for experiencing TV, Web and home media for the Set-Top Box (STB) and DTV industry via IPTV and/or hybrid IP/Broadcast delivery.

By combining Operas Devices SDK with GooMes OTT media solution, the result is a seamless and interactive user experience with the simplicity of single remote control access. This solution gives operators, broadcasters and TV/set-top-box OEMs access to an entire range of Internet and media services, from traditional TV to home media streaming and On-Demand services such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

“Opera and GooMe share a vision of how to bring the Web, added-value media content, and Internet services to TV screens,‚ said Jon von Tetzchner, co-founder of Opera Software. We both place high priority on adhering to open standards while at the same time offering a premium user experience and helping our customers shorten their time to market.

The cross-platform OperaGooMe modular solution will be easily portable to any browser-powered device, thus creating a real opportunity for TV Anywhere convergence, said Danny Peled, CEO and founder of GooMe Interactive. With major initiatives such as HbbTV and OIPF shaping the future of digital TV, Opera and GooMe expect to see solutions such as this take the IPTV and hybrid markets by storm in 2010.
