Cell C urges customers to register
The RICA cut-off date is in two days and Cell C is urging all of its customers to to check the status of all of their SIM cards, including their speedsticks.
With only two days left until the RICA deadline of 30 June Cell C would like to remind all of its customers that all SIM cards that have not been registered by midnight on Thursday will be cut off.
The company reminds its customers that ALL devices that use SIM cards, including speedsticks, phones and smartphones must be registered to avoid being cut-off.
Cell C Executive Head of Sales and Distribution, Sue Kennedy says: ‚While RICA registrations have picked up dramatically over the last few days, there are still many of our customers that need to RICA their SIM cards or risk having them cut-off.‚
Cell C is urging all of its customers to confirm their RICA status, by dialing *133*7422# (or *133*RICA#) or simply SMS ‚RICA‚ to 14579. The SMS is free to all Cell C customers. For further information on RICA, customers can also dial 147 or ask in-store.
If Cell C customers have not been registered, they can visit their nearest Cell C store or go anywhere they see a RICA signage to register. Customers must take a green barcoded identity book, the SIM card and proof of a physical address (like a bank statement or water and lights bill, which is less than three months old).
If you don’t have a formal address you can ask your church, a shop where they receive post or school for an affidavit and use that as proof of residence.
Customers are reminded that the legislation requires face-to-face verification.
Selected Cell C retail and franchise outlets will be open late on 30 June to cater for the last minute rush of registrations.
