Discovery Vitality and Cell C have announced the launch of VitalityMobile, a partnership that will give Vitality members access to free calls when calling other VitalityMobile members.
Gidon Novick, CEO of Discovery Vitality said, ‚”The genesis of VitalityMobile was the compelling trend of technology as an enabler to healthy living. From online tools that help our members reach their health goals to mobile devices that record and track workouts we have seen the power of technology in improving health status. VitalityMobile is an extension of this approach given strong evidence of the impact of community engagement in improving health status‚”.
Social interaction and support are key drivers of positive behaviour change. By removing the financial barriers to mobile communication, VitalityMobile aims to create a unique wellness community. Using this interconnected community, Vitality can generate significant savings* to members by offering free calls and boosting their data capabilities.
In addition to VitalityMobile, Vitality will also be rolling out LivingVitality, an interactive platform that gives its members fitness, nutrition and health support to manage their wellbeing. It will be available on www.discovery.co.za, Apple, Android and other mobile devices.
According to Alan Knott-Craig, CEO of Cell C, ‚”Cell C is pleased to partner with a dynamic business like Discovery Vitality. We are excited to be able to create an offering for Discovery Vitality’s extensive, high-value customer base as well as bring innovative new ideas to market. Mobile technologies will play a key role for healthcare in SA in the coming years and Cell C is glad to be paving the way with a partner like Discovery.‚”
VitalityMobile is available to all 1, 6 million Vitality members in South Africa across fitness levels and Vitality statuses.
‚”We are exceptionally excited to partner with Cell C given the shared importance we place on innovation that meets the needs of consumers. Over and above the competitiveness of their offerings and significant investment they’ve made in their network their entrepreneurial flair also appealed to Vitality‚” concluded Novick.
Vitality is Discovery’s science-based wellness programme that harnesses the power of incentives to bring about behaviour change. The programme has been independently validated as a scientifically proven intervention that helps alleviate the risk related to chronic diseases of lifestyle and reduces the cost of healthcare.
