Simfy hits 20-million tracks

Local music streaming service, simfy africa, has announced that over 20 million tracks are now availble for South Africans to download or stream.

simfy africa has announced that more than 20 million songs are now available on South Africa’s first legal music streaming service.

The company advises that 22,500 songs have been added every day in 2012, with an average track length of three and a half minutes – this equates to growth of more than 1,300 hours (or 54 days) of music per day. The service has added several new catalogues, including Paradise Entertainment & Distribution GmbH, offering an increased techno, house and disco repertoire.

simfy africa has also released updates for their desktop application, offering improved functionality on various features including new player control buttons with ‚’hover’ effect and improved handling of tracks with missing streaming rights. The app also uses a new offline storage process that removes the risk that files could be lost due to Adobe Air upgrades.

Android users have also just received an improved app, including a feature to allow offline files to be stored on a phone’s SD card. ,Looking forward to the next few weeks, simfy africa will be releasing updates for the iOS app with several improved features, including a much quicker search facility.

Due to popular demand, the company will launch gift vouchers from the 10th of December. Users will then be able to buy e-vouchers, in various denominations, from the website at www.simfyafrica.com which will be sent with a personalised message to the chosen recipient. Users have been requesting this functionality and so simfy africa has moved quickly to build this in time for year end gifts.

simfy africa launched in South Africa in August 2012, bringing world class music technology to our continent. Since launch, the service has been steadily gathering momentum. Followers on social media as well as the traditional media have welcomed and praised the service.
