SA in Mortal Kombat Cup

South Africa has been selected to participate in the Mortal Kombat Cup starting in May. The top three participants will win their share of R30 000, with the finalist getting a shot at the Grand Final at the Japan Expo in France.

South Africa is one of the countries selected from around the globe to participate in the Mortal Kombat Cup this year. Mortal Kombat X is one of the most anticipated titles for 2015 and, with the Mortal Kombat Cup landing on African soil, South Africans have the opportunity to be involved in a global gaming experience.

The South African MK Cup tournaments will be hosted by Ster Kinekor Entertainment, which will see the presence of local celebrities as well as top local gamers showing off their fighting skills and dexterity.

In search of the top 16 finalists, qualifying events will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban during the month of May, taking the qualifiers to the MK Cup SA Grand Final on 6 June 2015. One finalist will be crowned as South Africa’s best Mortal Kombat X player.

The finals will not only offer a R 30 000 prize pool for the top three participants, but also exclusive spot prizes for the spectators. The winner will walk away with a 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 console as well as automatically qualify for a seat at the Grand Final, which will take place in France, at the Japan Expo.
