Neotel gets more TelePresence

Neotel, in conjunction with the Cape Town International Convention Centre have opened South Africa’s second public TelePresence room.

Sunil Joshi, MD & CEO of Neotel said, ‚”The opening of Neotel’s second public TelePresence room in South Africa further emphasises our commitment to innovatively connect South Africa to the world. Video communication is increasingly playing a role in facilitating intra-company as well as business-to-business collaboration.‚”

TelePresence is an immersive meeting experience that offers the ultimate video and audio clarity. Participants are life-size, and every sound, gesture, and facial expression supports natural communication. Joining multiple TelePresence calls creates a single, exclusive meeting space. This provides innovative and effective business collaboration and contributes towards faster decision making, thus increasing productivity.

CTICC Chief Executive Officer, Rashid Toefy said the addition of the TelePresence room is a huge value-add to delegates and will enhance the meetings and events experience, when attending an event at the CTICC. ‚”As a leader in global best practice, especially in terms of the adoption of new technology, we aim to transform the meetings and events industry and we believe the new offering will raise the bar for all local players. Our business practices have always been underpinned by a spirit of innovation that extends to all areas of our operations, and we are excited to be the first convention centre in South Africa to introduce this innovative service offering. By collaborating with the private sector through partnerships such as this one with Neotel, we will enhance our positioning as a leading global meetings and events venue, and move one step closer to achieving our vision of being the best long-haul international convention centre by 2020,‚” added Toefy.

Businesses in Cape Town and Johannesburg are now able to hold face-to-face meetings without leaving their respective cities and are also able connect to 43 other global TelePresence rooms through Tata Communications’ expansive network that extends across five continents.

Joshi noted that, ‚”Our video solution is underpinned by our best-of-breed fibre network. We continue to deploy a next generation fibre network which allows for the combination of high-quality audio and video, simple intuitive technology, high reliability, and environmental sustainability which creates a seamless meeting experience. TelePresence allows customers to feel as if they are in the same room, irrespective of which continent or location they are on.‚”

TelePresence is available as two options: A usage based public TelePresence room, or a managed private TelePresence solution that Neotel can build and manage (on the customer’s premises) on behalf of clients.
