Samsung has announced the addition of three new mobile applications to its Samsung Apps Store. These include MXit Mobile chat, DStv Mobile Decoder and Pricecheck.co.za, all available on relevant Android Samsung devices.

In line with Samsung’s continuous innovations in meeting the demands of a variety of consumers and ensuring they remain locally relevant in bringing new and exciting content to market, through various partnerships, Samsung is proud to announce the addition of three new mobile applications to it’s Samsung Apps Store. These include MXit Mobile chat, DStv Mobile Decoder and Pricecheck.co.za, all available on relevant Android Samsung devices.

MXit:

Known as a free mobile instant messenger and social networking application, it has a suite of services that has earned it the title of being the largest and most popular fully integrated mobile social network in Africa, including: one-on-one and group chat, an email facility for mobile phones and entertainment features including: multiplayer games, mobile books and magazines, as well as music downloads. The MXIT offering is further enriched by a classified advertising section which allows for the buying and selling of goods (Xchange) as well as movie reviews, news, sport and weather updates. MXit also provides free access to real-time counseling services, Maths, Physical Science and Learner Driver info.

Says Juan du Toit International Marketing and Business Development Manager at MXit, ‚We are pleased to have partnered with Samsung to offer consumers access to the MXit platform on all Android Samsung smartphone devices, especially for the youth market, where this platform has proved very popular. This partnership enables us to reach a larger audience who are already using Samsung devices, opening up the market for us, and of course creating opportunity for Samsung consumers to communicate more easily and conveniently through MXit.‚

DStv Mobile Decoder:

For those people constantly on the go, missing their favourite programmes or sports is often a reality – but not anymore. Working through the Drifta DStv Mobile Decoder, Samsung has developed the DStv Mobile Decoder app offering South Africans the opportunity to watch their favorite DStv shows on their mobile devices. Subscription is R36 per month: however DStv Premium subscribers pay no subscription cost. All Rugby World Cup games are currently being broadcast live to DStv Mobile compatible devices.

Mark Rayner, General Manager of DStv Mobile South Africa says: ‚The mobile consumer market continues to grow and in the aim to meet the needs of this emerging consumer and create continuous viewership opportunities – our partnership with Samsung becomes a key value add for our consumers ‚ affording them constant access to our services, regardless of location.‚

PriceCheck.co.za:

Where online shopping has become a key element to many consumers’ everyday lives ‚ comparing prices, looking for bargains and making sure they get the best deal for their buck – Samsung, in partnership with PriceCheck.co.za, is now offering the consumer the opportunity to compare online shopping prices using the PriceCheck.co.za mobile application. Says Charl Mocke, Product Owner for Mobile, MIH at PriceCheck.co.za: ‚As SA’s number 1 shopping comparison Website ‚ aimed at the price conscious consumer – this application provides the consumer with immediate insight into the best online deals available, saving both time and money.‚

‚At Samsung, our aim is to continually grow our Application Store to offer locally relevant applications to our consumers and in turn foster a smarter lifestyle. Through partnering with such key consumer brands we are empowered to do just this and are certainly proud to be working with brands that are synonymous with our overall business goals and consumer outreach strategy. We look forward to of the uptake of these applications and to growing our partnerships ‚ not only with our existing partners but with new ones too,‚ concludes Loubser.
