Missed calls no more?

MTN has launched a Missed Call Notification Service, which provides the MTN customer with the assurance that all calls can be attended to even when the cellphone is switched off.

MTN has launched a Missed Call Notification Service, which provides the MTN customer with the assurance that all calls can be attended to even when the cellphone is switched off, the customer is out of signal range, or the caller did not leave a message.

‚The service adds great value to MTN customers as it allows them to manage their missed calls more efficiently,‚ says Mapula Bodibe, GM, Consumer Marketing, MTN SA.

At the time when the MTN customer switches the phone on or is back in the network coverage area, the service sends an SMS that details the phone number of the missed call, how many missed calls from that number, and the date and time of the last missed call.

Whether as a business or a regular customer, Missed Call Notification will undoubtedly prove invaluable.

‚We appreciate that we operate in a time where a missed call may mean a missed opportunity,‚ says Bodibe. ‚The Missed Call Notification service therefore offers MTN customers relief and satisfaction in knowing that they can maintain their professional standards and relations simply by being able to attend to their missed calls. It’s important for us that no MTN customer should be denied an opportunity as a result of missing a call.‚

MTN recognises that its customers face many demands at work and in their private lives. The Missed Call Notification service seeks to alleviate some of life’s pressures by giving our customers peace of mind that they will not miss any important calls. In a sense, the service acts as a virtual assistant that is always available to keep our customers up to speed with their calls.

MTN is offering Missed Call Notification as a free service initially only to MTN Contract customers who have voicemail, enhanced voicemail or enhanced voicemail plus.

MTN Contract customers who do not have voicemail, enhanced voicemail or enhanced voicemail plus, will need to contact their service provider to request the activation of one of the three voicemail services.

MTN is advising newly activated customers to dial 100 to record their personal greetings. To enable the Missed Call Notification service, MTN Contract customers will be required to dial *100# from their MTN cellphone, select option 1 from the menu and then select option 2.

In order to disable the Missed Call Notification service, MTN postpaid customers should follow the same steps as above, but select option 3 instead of option 2. It should be noted that enabling and disabling the service is limited to a maximum of 3 changes per cellphone number per day.

In addition to providing the Missed Call Notification service without charging a subscription fee, MTN keeps to its promise of fair pricing by not charging for the SMS messages from the service. The SMS messages are in standard SMS length and are no more than 160 characters.

MTN customers should be aware that missed calls from unknown numbers, i.e. where the caller identity is not shown, will not be displayed in the SMS message.

Says Bodibe: ‚It is also important to note that the Missed Call Notification service uses existing support channels and processes for assistance. This means that MTN customers may either contact their service provider for technical support regarding the service, or alternatively access the same channels that already provide support for voicemail.‚

The various options can be accessed by dialling *100# from a MTN phone number. There is no charge to dialling the *100# number from a MTN phone number. Return calls placed by MTN customers using the Missed Call Notification service are charged at standard price plan rates.

‚With the introduction of the Missed Call Notification service, MTN is yet again demonstrating its consistent agility to enhancing the experience of our customers,‚ Bodibe concludes.
