Leon Shuster’s biggest film to date – Mad Buddies – will be available on DVD and high-definition Blu-ray across South Africa from today.
Helena Spring and Leon Schuster are proud to announce the Home Entertainment release of the biggest local film of 2012 to date, Leon Schuster’s Mad Buddies, on DVD and stunning high definition Blu-ray nationwide, on 17 September 2012.
South African movie-goers have flocked to cinemas since the release of Mad Buddies in June and kept the local comedy in the Local Box Office top 10 for 11 weeks. In celebration of the film’s release on DVD and Blu-ray, fans will get 3 very special opportunities to meet some of the cast as they embark on a 2-city meet and greet tour.
On 29 September, Schuster (‚’Boetie’) and co-stars Kenneth Nkosi (‚’Beast’) and Alfred Ntombela (‚’Minister Mda’), will visit Look and Listen Clearwater Mall and C.N.A. The Glen Shopping Centre where fans will be able to not only purchase the film, but get pictures and an autograph from the cast! Sunday 30 September sees Leon and Alfred hitting Musica Mega Store in Canal Walk, Cape Town.
Following their first nationwide tour in support of the theatrical release of Mad Buddies, which took the comedic actors to Witbank, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg, the cast are equally excited to be sharing the next phase in the film’s journey. Says Schuster, ‚’Mad Buddies was so well received by local audiences and this is just one way we can show our appreciation for all their support!’

In Mad Buddies, sworn enemies, Boetie (Schuster) and Beast, played by Kenneth Nkosi (Jerusalema, Tsotsi, White Wedding), are forced to embark on a road trip as unwitting subjects of a new TV reality show, devised by a gorgeous TV Producer, Kelsey, played by Tanit Phoenix (Spud, Straight Outta Benoni). On camera, with the whole of South Africa in on the joke, the pair comes unstuck at every stage of this hilarious journey until they discover that they have been conned and join forces to exact revenge. Mad Buddies also stars long-time Schuster collaborator Alfred Ntombela as Mr Mda, the Minister of Tourism, is Directed by Gray Hofmeyr and Produced by Helena Spring. The DVD and Blu-ray‚Ñ¢ discs will also contain new bonus features, including a never-before-seen alternative ending!
Mad Buddies, released under the Touchstone Pictures banner, will release nationwide on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday 17 September 2012.
Timberlake to headline iTunes London festival
Apple has announced that Justin Timberlake, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jack Johnson and Jessie J are among the headliners at this year’s iTunes Festival in London.
Running every night in September at the Roundhouse, the iTunes Festival features more than 60 acts performing at the legendary venue.
Performances can be watched live or on-demand by millions of iOS users around the world on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, as well as by music fans with iTunes on their computer or in stunning HD with Apple TV. Tickets are free for competition winners only.
Music fans from across the world, including the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Japan and Mexico can win tickets to the iTunes Festival through competitions run by local media partners. In the UK, fans can win tickets using the iTunes Festival app and the iTunes Store as well as select media partners including Channel 4, Global Radio and Metro.
