The annual rAge gaming expo is kicking off in a few days at the Dome in Northgate for the 12th year. Visitors will be able to experience the latest in games, technology and gadgets from over 95 exhibitors.
Game, gadget and technology enthusiasts will be descending on The Dome in Johannesburg between 10 – 12 October for the annual rAge expo.
Now in its 12th year, the line-up of exhibitors will not disappoint and visitors can look forward to an array of displays, interactive experiences, give-aways, special offers and competitions.
Some 95 exhibitors will be exhibiting at the expo and here’s a taste of what visitors can expect.
With the same techno brains powering both NAG magazine and rAge, it’s no surprise that the two go hand-in-hand, and visitors to the rAge expo can expect a lot from this year’s expo.
Awesome NAG and rAge branded gear and accessories – think mousepads, T-shirts, fridge magnets, bags – will be on sale during the expo from the NAG Merchandise Shoppe (Stand 82).
The SCI-RYDER will make its global debut at this year’s rAge. Offering users a gaming experience with its ergonomic design which has been applauded by chiropractors, the SCI-RYDER has transformed gaming into a far more comfortable, user friendly and healthier experience. R3 000 discount off the standard price is on offer for purchases of the SCI-RYDER at the expo. Plus, if you order the SCI-RYDER during the expo you will automatically be entered into a lucky draw to win back the full purchase price of R18 000.
Overclocking demonstrations will be hosted on the Titan Ice Computers stand at various times throughout the three days and any visitors that purchases components from Titan Ice during the expo will be given free overclocking gear. You can also catch some extreme overclocking on the X99 and Z97 platforms at the NAG Extreme Overclocking stand. Dr Weez aka Andrew Roberts, and Neo Sibeko will be pushing some hardware to its limits over the course of 7 sessions happening at various times during the expo.
Learn 3D Computer Animation Training Centre will be offering free 30 minute classes on 2D illustration, 3D animation and games development. Pre-booking for these classes is essential and can be done online at www.learn3d.co.za In addition, Learn 3D is hosting a fantastic Home-Coded competition consisting of four games made by its Games Development Course students. Players can vote for the game they would like to see competing at rAge. The games are available for download from www.learn3d.co.za and voting ends on 08 October. The most voted game will be available for expo visitors to play with the three highest scores winning prizes from Learn 3D and Megarom. NAG’s home_coded local indie games stand will also offer visitors the opportunity to experience the powers of a brain-controller and see what it’s like to control a small toy helicopter with their minds ‚Ķ which is sure to be a mind blowing experience!
Not to be missed are the many titles that Megarom will be showing during the expo amongst which are Assassins Creed Rogue, the Crew, NBA 2k 2015, Skylanders Trap Team, Tom Clancy’s The Division and Evolve.
Hot Toys (to be found on the Hobby Island stand) will be showcasing and selling the following figurines exclusively at rAge: Iron Man 3: Iron Man Mark XX Python, Batman the dark Knight: Joker Bank Robber Version 2.0 and AVP: Ancient Predator.
Gaming brands like Aorus, Corsair, Gigabyte, Cool Master and BenQ will be on display at the Rectron stand. The stakes are high for eight teams competing in the finals of the Aorus Corsair Dota 2 Clash with a prize basket worth no less than R275 000, the largest prize pool the South African Dota 2 community has competed for to date. Whether a gamer or a spectator, this will be a tournament not to be missed.
A few super heroes will be making an appearance and Prima Interactive will be showcasing, amongst others, its Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes, suitable for children of 7 years and older.
Some more cool Super Hero stuff will be on offer from Cosmic Comics in the form of Kotobukiya Artfx+ Avengers figures – think Thor Hawkeye, Hulk, Black Widow and Captain America. A full set of these figures will be up for grabs – for all customers that have purchased from Cool Stuff during the expo – during Sunday’s lucky draw.

Durable will be demonstrating its alcohol free, anti-microbial computer cleaning products. PNA will be selling cleaning products throughout the expo and all customers stand a chance to win a Gaming PC, valued at a squeaky clean R15 000.
Be sure to include a visit Matrix Warehouse Computers where 15 minutes of Armageddon madness will be on offer daily together with prize give-aways and a Grand Prize Lucky Draw.
It will be hard to miss the Nintendo giant inflatable Mario that will be stationed outside the main entrance of rAge. If you can hit the question mark on Mario you’ll have your photo taken with Mario and win a surprise spot prize. Mario and a couple of his Nintendo counterpart characters – Luigi and Princess Peach – will also be taking regular strolls through the expo encouraging visitors to visit the Nintendo stand where Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Yoshi Woollly World, Splatoon will be on display amongst other products. In addition, special demo version and character distribution for 3DS Pokemon Alpha & Omega will be handed out, at random, to visitors to the stand. On both Friday and Saturday Nintendo will take to the main stage and will be running tournaments for Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.
T-shirt Terrorist will unveil its brand new range of ladies tee’s at rAge this year. Having only produced men’s tee’s to date, the company is excited about launching its trendy ladies tee’s and the girls will have a choice of six to eight different designs and styles to choose from. Four new designs, together with new colours, have also been added to the existing men’s range.
