FNB offers free WhatsApp

As from the beginning of this month all Connect subscribers have been able to use WhatsApp messaging for free on any FNB Connect SIM.

The growing demand for data usage and a large portion of Connect customers using the WhatsApp service on a daily basis has prompted FNB Connect to provide the service for free as an added benefit to all customers.  Additionally, FNB Connect sees this as a valuable addition for customers who also benefit from up to 40% back in eBucks on their Connect SIM spend.

The free WhatsApp promotion runs until the 31st of July 2016. During this period customers will be able to use the WhatsApp Messenger service free from any data costs. This means that customers are not required to have any data, to use WhatsApp.

“We are continuously looking at the needs of customers to offer products and services that add value to their lives and enhance the experience they have with our services. Testament to this is the recent recognition of Connect as the Most Innovative MVNO at the 15th Annual World MVNO Congress 2016, held in Amsterdam last month,” says Shadrack Palmer, Chief Commercial Officer of FNB Connect.

“This proves customers are on the lookout for innovative products and services to suit their everyday needs,” says Palmer

The award adds to the 3 internationally recognized awards received since launching in June 2015. Connect received recognition for being the ‘Most Innovative MVNO’ in the Telecoms.com Awards in November last year, and scooped 2 further awards at the AfricaCom Awards for the ‘Most Innovative Service’ and ‘Excellence in Customer Experience Management’ shortly following this.

Customers with a Connect SIM can also access FNB’s electronic banking platforms such as Online Banking, FNB App, Cell phone Banking and eWallet without incurring any data charges, thus ensuring banking is convenient and always accessible, even if you do not have data. LTE has also been enabled on all Connect SIMs. Customers with LTE devices can now enjoy faster data speeds with coverage in Gauteng, Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal.

“Enhancing our customers’ communication needs by offering services that are relevant and innovative is a key objective for us,” says Palmer.
