CES 2013: Weather hits Android
At next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Netatmo, creator of the world’s first personal weather station with air quality sensors, will unveil its Urban Weather Station to the Android community with its new mobile app.
Netatmo’s Urban Weather Station monitors and records indoor and outdoor environmental micro and macro living elements including temperature, humidity, air pressure, CO2 levels, air quality and more. The Urban Weather Station’s free corresponding Android app can be downloaded through Google Play. The individual Urban Weather Station modules quantify users’ indoor and outdoor atmospheres, and wirelessly transmit data through Wi-Fi to the Netatmo app, which features an intuitive, easy-to-read interface. In addition to receiving real-time notifications on immediate air quality and weather conditions, users have access to a free lifetime online account, where all station measurements and data are stored. The system’s key innovations include its ability to evaluate indoor air confinement by measuring CO2 concentration. When CO2 reaches an excessive level, the user is alerted directly on their iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Android device and can take action, such as proper ventilation. The air quality conditions monitored and recorded by Netatmo’s application allow users to assess the optimal times for outdoor physical activity, when to commute using mass transit versus driving to work and more all situations where air quality is of the highest importance. ‚”With Android compatibility, the Urban Weather Station will benefit even more consumers globally,‚” said Netatmo CEO Fred Potter. ‚”This is the next step in working towards our goal of creating the world’s largest weather and air quality monitoring network ever established.‚” Additional functions of Netatmo’s Android application include a detailed seven-day forecast and a light indicator to determine indoor CO2 levels with precise accuracy. The Urban Weather Station also measures indoor noise pollution to aid in monitoring the home’s overall wellness and eases its effects such as stress and trouble sleeping. The Urban Weather Station is now available for $179 on Netatmo’s website. The supporting application can be downloaded through the Google Play and iTunes.
