Cellfind gets mapping with MapIT
Cellfind, a local provider of location-based applications and services to the mobile market in South Africa has decided to use MapIT’s enriched map data and world-class web-mapping technology.
Cellfind Managing Director, Jacques Swanepoel said the company chose MapIT as their key supplier after a strict evaluation of local and international mapping companies. ‚System stability and mapping accuracy are key factors for our products and services, especially if you look at the nature of the value added services we provide to MTN and Vodacom,‚ said Swanepoel. ‚MapIT provide a comprehensive service greatly enabling our business which is key for future growth.‚
Etienne Louw, Managing Director of MapIT, said Cellfind’s decision to source data and technology directly from MapIT emphasised the rapidly changing nature of the web and mobile environment. ‚We recently re-positioned ourselves in the market to offer clients a world-class web mapping API that they could easily customise and integrate for new or existing geo-location products and services. The Cellfind deal shows that we’re a perfect fit in this solution-enabling environment.‚
Cellfind offers various Location Based Services to the Financial, Insurance, Medical and Mobile industries, like Vodacom’s Look4Me and Look4Help services, and MTN’s WhereRU and 2MyAid in the security conscious family market.
Personal tracking services enable clients to track consenting family, friends or colleagues on a map-enabled mobile device or website. SOS services include a SMS-activated ‚panic button’ for emergencies. Once activated, the service identifies the geo-coordinates of the distressed party and simultaneously transmits a SMS request for emergency assistance.
