Business Connexion supports township schools
Business Connexion has undertaken to supply twenty new computers to schools in Lesedi’s historic Ratanda township. According to the company, these computers are equipped to provide extra educational resources for the children as well as supporting operations within the administration.
“The schools in the Lesedi’s historic Ratanda townshiptownship area do not have adequate funds to provide for the equipment necessary to supplement the available learning support material needed by the pupils,” says Modise Nyawane, regional executive at Business Connexion for local and provincial government.
Nyawane says Business Connexion’s corporate social investment (CSI) mission is to be an innovative and inspirational corporate citizen on the African continent.
“We strive to harness the power of technology as a means of making real change and adding value to the African web of life.”
Business Connexion has an extensive and carefully planned programme of CSI projects that aim to address some of the critical needs of the greater community.
“We are meticulous with regards to our strategy which is aimed at developing sustainable projects designed to deliver practical results and contribute to ongoing improvements to communities.”
He notes the fundamental objective of the company’s CSI initiatives is to enhance empowerment and social upliftment.
“In this case, pupils will gain ongoing benefits as the training will open the door of opportunity for them and hopefully a pathway to better careers and lives. The technology will also be used to improve the facilities available for the local community. Moreover, in terms of the bigger picture, projects like this also aim to address the national IT skills dearth.”
Private-public partnerships have proved to be a successful model for dealing with many of the challenges the country faces. National government has made a firm commitment to encourage leading private sector companies to make a contribution to the larger community.
“Business Connexion has equally pledged its commitment to the same goal under the philosophy that “together we can achieve more”.
“Business Connexion has one of the best-planned and most well-established CSI programmes in South Africa,” says Nyawane. “We look forward to further cooperation with the Lesedi Local Municipality.”
