BajaBoard set for take-off

Australian start-up BajaBoard, has launched a four-wheel drive electric skateboard through a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign is currently under way and will be running until 18 May.

The crowdfunding platform is being used to raise funding to complete the development of the BajaBoard and bring it to the market and can be viewed here. Those interested are able to reserve their very own BajaBoard on Kickstarter.

This is a major milestone for us,” said General Manager, George Li. “We developed the current BajaBoard prototype over two and a half years in our own garages, while working in other jobs.

The BajaBoard is a patent pending 4WD all-terrain electric skateboard, with a power rating of 12 000W. It is the only electric skateboard to feature a suspension system, as well as independent 4-wheel steering, electronic differential, and dual throttle control (separately controlling front and rear wheels). The BajaBoard is able to accelerate from 0 to 30km/h in approximately one second, and tops out at a self-restricted top speed of 50km/h.
