Sony has announced the availability of the new VAIO S Series. This notebook features a 13.3 inch screen in a slim and thin full-flat design. Furthermore, the unit boasts an Intel Core i7 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6630M GPU with 1GB VRAM ‚ perfect for all your high-end application and gaming needs.
You can double the battery life by using the optional Extended Battery*, which is ideal for business as well as on-campus where you may not find a power source while on the go. This PC is also equipped with a Quick Boot[1] feature, allowing it to boot up in 17 seconds from cold.
Perfectly balanced performance and high mobility
VAIO S Series sports the latest second generation Intel Core i7 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6630M GPU with 1GB VRAM. The unit has a Performance Switch function, which supports the Dynamic Hybrid Graphic System. The Switch allows users to easily choose SPEED mode for the fastest performance or STAMINA mode to let the battery last even longer.
The VAIO S Series has 6 hours of battery life, however, an optional Extended Battery is also available to last for up to 12 hours – double the primary battery capability. It has a dedicated battery charger, enabling you to leave your battery at your desk to get charged, and then keep it with you so the battery life will last for another few hours. The Extended Battery is also full-flat, making it easy to carry, even when it is attached.
Quick Boot and fast operation with SSD
The VAIO S Series with SSD features Quick Boot and fast operation. The Quick Boot feature enables you to start up the computer within just 17 seconds from shut down.
Advanced LCD
The new series sports a 13.3 inch wide screen with 1366 x768 resolution for fast and smooth operation. The LCD has an anti-reflective glossy finish with low reflective coating on the surface. This provides high contrast images, and is easy on the eyes.
Crafted to be carried
Weighing just 1.71kg in a 23.9mm slim full-flat body, this PC is crafted to be carried comfortably. Its aluminium palm rest and magnesium body enable it to be thin and light, but it is still rugged for mobile use.
The hinge is not visible from the front, offering a clean and simple look around the display. A spacious palm rest and touch pad area contributes to comfortable usability. In addition, the six-sided edge design provides an attractive look. This construction succeeds in realising superior robustness and structural integrity.
Usability for smooth operation
To further increase the usability, it has a backlit keyboard, making it easier to type in dimly lit rooms. The HD web camera, powered by ‚Exmor‚ , provides high-quality images for visual communication, such as video chat and teleconferencing. It also incorporates a touchpad with multi-gesture functions for users working without a mouse. These functions support three major finger motions: scrolling through pages, moving backwards and forwards on web pages, and zooming in and out.
In addition, the ‚WEB’ button allows speedy access to web browsing without booting up the operation system. There is also a dedicated ‚ASSIST’ button. Thisprovides one-touch access to VAIO Care which, simplifying basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
