Vodacom releases low-cost LTE phone

Vodacom has released the Smart 4 Turbo phone. The LTE-capable device costs R1 499 and will go on sale from Monday.

Vodacom’s new LTE-capable Smart 4 Turbo goes on sale for R1 499 from Monday, 9 February. This is the lowest priced LTE-capable handset in Vodacom’s range, giving access to fast connectivity via Vodacom’s rapidly growing network of more than 2 000 LTE base stations.

The device, which can be bought from Vodacom stores as well as online at www.vodacom.co.za, runs the latest Android operating system (KitKat 4.4). It comes in black and white and has a 5MP camera. In addition to cash sales, the Smart 4 Turbo is also available on a range of contracts including the Vodacom Smart S Light for R159 per month which comes with 100MB of monthly data.

The own-brand Vodacom range was launched in August last year with the Smart Kicka, which subsequently sold more than half a million devices. This was followed-up with Smart Tab 3G, of which more than 200 000 have been sold so far. The Smart 4 Turbo follows the same approach of high specification combined with quality.
