Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), Ster-Kinekor Entertainment and tournament operators ACGL have announced the official Injustice 2 South African Cup.
It features a cash prize pool of R60 000 cash, gaming product and a slot in the VS Fighting tournament in Birmingham in August, when $20,000 will be up for grabs.
South African entrants will be able to participate in a variety of online qualifying tournaments where XP will be awarded towards their leaderboard position. The top four after the 25th June online playoffs will then head to the grand final in Gauteng on 8th July where the champion will be decided at a spectacular finale event that will feature performances from well-known musicians, Jack Parow and Fokofpolisiekar!
The tournament was only open to citizens or permanent residents of the Republic of South Africa who are be 18 years or older on the 19th of May 2017 and are in possession of a valid Passport. The tournament will be run on PlayStation 4 exclusively. Injustice 2 Pro Series
Meanwhile, WBIE is teaming up with ESL, Gamelta esports Professional League, GameStop, PlayStation4 and Twitch to further build the fighting game community around the world. The program offers amateur and pro players throughout North America, Europe and Latin America a chance to compete in different programs for a portion of a $600 000 USD prize pool. The best players from these different programs will qualify for the Injustice 2 Championship Series grand finals that will take place later in the year.
The Injustice 2 Pro Series kicks off May 26, broadcast live on Twitch (twitch.tv/netherrealm), with a four-month online and offline season, drilling down to the top 16 players from around the world. The 16 finalists will advance to the Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals for a throw-down. The Injustice 2 Pro Series Finals will take place September 17 in Los Angeles.
