MTN switches on e-SIMs

MTN today announced the launch of e-SIM technology for postpaid customers. Currently, only iPhones and certain smartwatches support e-SIMs in South Africa. Vodacom launched the technology in March.

The e-Sim technology is now available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm. These watches are only available to MTN customers purchasing a 2-4-1 deal with the Samsung Galaxy Note10 or Note10+ on the newly upgraded MTN Made For Me or Sky Price plans.

While certain models of Apple Watches can support e-SIMs, none of those are sold in South Africa. Imported Apple Watch LTE devices that are not networked locked can have their e-SIMs linked to local mobile operators.

MTN announced that new and existing postpaid customers who sign-up or upgrade on MTN Made for Me or MTN Sky Price plans will also receive the following benefits:

The promotion ends on 31 October 2019.
