BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has admitted that the outage affecting Europe, Middle East and Africa is spreading globally.
In a terse statement released this afternoon (11 October), BlackBerry maker Research in Motion revealed that the outage affecting three major regions has now spread to two more.
The two-sentence statement, issued at 16:00 British Standard Time, read:
‚Some users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are experiencing messaging and browsing delays. We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.‚
This suggests the outage is spreading across Asia and South America, which join Africa, Europe and the Middle East as major regions without BlackBerry Service. Only North America and the Pacific Rim now seem unaffected.
There is still no word from RIM on what caused the outage.
