Toshiba introduces the thinnest full-function 13,3‚ laptop, the Port√©g√© R700. A stunning blend of mobility, performance and features for business users.
Toshiba recently announced the thinnest and lightest full-function 33.8cm (13.3”) laptop, the Port√©g√© R700. It’s a well-specified business machine that combines a lightweight, ultra-slim chassis with innovative computing technologies.
‚Our long-standing engineering expertise has enabled us to design a laptop with an unparalleled blend of high performance, mobility and features ‚ yet at a decent price,‚ says Andre Rossouw, Regional General Manager for Toshiba South Africa. The result is a slim and light 33.8cm (13.3”) ultra-portable machine that measures just 16.8mm tall and weighs only 1.3kg.
Groundbreaking technologies
‚To achieve a device like the Port√©g√© R700 we have made major advances in three areas: heat management, chassis construction, and memory chip deployment,” explains Rossouw. Airflow Cooling Technology, co-developed by Intel¬Æ and Toshiba, allows Toshiba to integrate the latest Intel Core family processors in the Port√©g√© R700’s slim casing while keeping the sound of the fan to a minimum. A honeycomb structure in the palmrest area makes the Port√©g√© R700 highly durable against flexing – protecting the electronic and mechanical components from being damaged, considerably prolonging the life of the product. By innovatively stacking the memory slots vertically, the Port√©g√© R700 can accommodate up to 8GB RAM for even more powerful performance.
Travel light, work easily
The black Port√©g√© R700 enables business users to travel light without compromising on performance. Thanks to the integration of the latest Intel¬Æ standard voltage Core processors and the availability of an optical disc drive, the slim and light laptop is equipped to run even the most-demanding multimedia applications. And the powerful performance of Port√©g√© R700 doesn’t compromise on battery life – it can run for an entire working day of up to eight hours on one battery[3] charge. The new model offers even more useful features to enhance its portability and appeal for business people: e.g. a durable yet very elegant black magnesium-alloy cover with a matt finish, a 3D sensor for hard disk protection against drops and shocks[4], a broad range of connectivity options, a non-reflective screen and a docking station connector. The docking station supports HDMI and USB 3.0 for fast data transfer.
The Toshiba Portégé R700 is available in South Africa from October 2010 at a recommended retail price from R12,999.00.
