Yesterday, Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS handheld consoles was launched.
Returning to the imaginative Unova region two years after it was first introduced in 2011’s Pok√©mon Black Version and Pok√©mon White Version, these games see players catch up with old friends and make new ones as they quest to face down rival Gym Leaders, survive heated turn-based battles and collect as many Pok√©mon as possible.
In Pok√©mon Black Version 2 and Pok√©mon White Version 2, players take on the role of a Pok√©mon Trainer who must explore new areas of the Unova region, starting in the all-new Aspertia City two years after the events of Pok√©mon Black Version and Pok√©mon White Version. This marks the first time in the history of the core Pok√©mon video game series that story lines have continued from one game release to another. The characters and environments in Unova have undergone changes, from the rise of new Gym Leaders to a new Unova’s Challenge area where players can level up their Pok√©mon more easily.
Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 introduce a new Medal System that rewards players for meeting certain in-game milestones, such as taking a certain number of steps, hatching Eggs, using C-Gear to connect with friends and more. There are over 250 unique medals to collect, giving players more goals to achieve even after they have completed the main storyline of the game.
Players that have completed the main game can also enjoy additional content through the Key System, which unlocks additional Unova’s Challenge areas to take on and offers detailed customisation options for advanced players. For example, players that have gained access to the Key System can adjust the difficulty of the Pok√©mon belonging to Trainers they encounter in the field, making them stronger or weaker.
As players work to uncover the mystery behind Black Kyurem and White Kyurem and explore never before seen parts of the Unova region, they’ll encounter new areas.
Other new features in Pok√©mon Black Version 2 and Pok√©mon White Version 2 include the new Pok√©mon World Tournament mode, which lets players battle Gym Leaders they may remember from regions in previous Pok√©mon videogames. There’s also Pok√©star Studios, a movie ‚”studio‚” near Virbank City where players can use a variety of scripts to make their own customised Pok√©mon movies and release them to an audience. Players that experienced Pok√©mon Black Version and Pok√©mon White Version can use the Memory Link feature to sync their save files from these games and view an expanded storyline showing events that took place in Unova during the past two years.
