Emperors Palace will join millions of people and thousands of businesses around the world to commemorate Earth Hour from 20h30 to 21h30 on 26 March.
The most recognised Emperors Palace sign… the signature beacon, which can be seen from the R21 highway going to the O.R Tambo International Airport, welcoming visitors to the complex, will be switched off for the full hour to honour Earth Hour and its contribution to the planet.
The Palace of Dreams signage will form part of other global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum that will stand in darkness again this year as part of the fight against climate change.
Earth Hour 2010 was the biggest Earth Hour since its inception in 2007, with a recorded 128 countries and territories joining the climate action. People across the world from all walks of life switched off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common ‚ our planet.
‚The run of business will not be affected and visitors to Emperors Palace will not be disturbed by the events in any way,‚ says Bob Yearham, Chief Operating Officer, Emperors Palace.
