Core Group, the distributor of Apple products in South Africa has announced that the iPad 2 will retail for R3999, a drop of R1000 from its original price.

Core Group, the distributer of Apple products in South Africa, on Friday announced a R1000 drop in price for the iPad 2, now starting at just R3999. However, availability of the new iPad has not yet been announced.

‚We are thrilled to offer South Africans the opportunity to purchase iPad 2 at a significantly reduced Recommended Retail Price. At just R3999, iPad is accessible to many more customers‚ , says Rutger-Jan van Spaandonk, Executive Director of Core Group.

‚There has been almost no new innovation in the PC space that warrants upgrading a PC. iPad 2 does all the things that most people need from a PC – email, internet, word processing, Skype, Twitter, Facebook etc. – but adds almost infinite value through the hundreds of thousands of iPad apps available on the App Store‚ , adds van Spaandonk.

Apps cater for almost every area of interest from lifestyle, to business, education, entertainment, health & fitness, news, photography, social networking, sports, travel and many more. With over 20 categories of apps, South Africans can personalise their iPad 2 to suit their lifestyle and needs.

‚iPad is reinventing portable computing and continues to deliver the most amazing experience people have ever had with technology. We are excited to see more South Africans having access to this revolutionary device‚ , concludes van Spaandonk.

iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi and 16GB Wi-Fi and 3G will continue to be available as part of the iPad product range. The top of the range iPad 2, with 64GB hard drive, Wi-FI and 3G, now retails for R7299.
