Garmin today announced free lifetime map updates to South African consumers when they purchase a Garmin Personal Navigation Device preloaded with City Navigator Southern Africa.
The company said, in a statement issued this morning: “In today’s fast-paced world, roads and Points of Interest are constantly changing. Now, thanks to Garmin’s unique offering of free map updates for life on selected n√ºvi PND’s, users will always have the most accurate, detailed map data possible with over 780,000 km of road coverage and more than 310 000 points of interest (POI) at their fingertips.””
Walter Mech, CEO of Garmin Southern Africa, added: ‚””Only with Garmin’s City Navigator Southern Africa GPS range, do you get free map updates for the life of your device. The free map was only released on the new city navigator map set, which is a new map. The one you are using is an old Garmap mapping, and to upgrade will cost R349, which will cover you for a calendar year. Then, when the next map is released, you will get a free upgrade for that calendar year.
The city navigator map set is only compatible for the new units like nuvi 30, 40, 50, 2495, 2595, 3495, 3595, and zumo 350.”
