Not only is it a very cost-conscious option, but it also has some new special added-value features. The maximum throughput on the link is 1.4 Gbps with ARQ (Automatic Repeat Query) and asymmetric non-contiguous channel aggregation across the 5 GHz band.

The robust form factor, which includes the P67 rated metal housing, protects this radio from solar radiation and makes it ideal for use in extreme conditions, such as very high winds and harsh temperatures. Accurate antenna alignment of the link is facilitated using the GUI e-alignment configuration setup. This provides a reliable way to install the radio.

Channel bonding, a very high-end feature, means that each channel can have independent channel bandwidth that provides in-channel flexibility, band selection and addresses throughput requirements. Using two 80 MHz channels, the PTP 550 is able to achieve the 1.4 Gbps throughput.
