Bang & Olufsen unveils pricey modern-art speaker

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Edge boasts the world’s first Active Brass Port, which delivers impressive bass capabilities with more energised bass as one increases the volume. Transforming the everyday mundane into musical mastery, the speaker was created in collaboration with renowned designer Michael Anastassiades.

Bang & Olufsen Concept Manager, Kresten Bjørn Krab-Bjerre, says: “With Beosound Edge, we are bringing forward a timeless design masterpiece that inspires the imagination with an interaction and experience never before seen in home audio. From a distance it is monolithic and discreet, hiding everything that suggests technology, yet it is unforgettable in sound performance punching above and beyond what you would expect for the size of the speaker”.

Featuring circular centrepiece that amplifies the elegance of a room it’s in, the speaker has proximity sensors that know when you’re nearby and will illuminate the touch interface accordingly. Volume can be adjusted by gently rolling the Beosound backwards or forwards. It comes with a matte black fabric cover, with the option to exchange this for other colours over time. 360-degree room-filling sound comes from both sides of the speaker allowing for new Directional Sound Control, and the Beosound provides an exceptional streaming experience and supports voice interaction.

Beosound Edge is now available in Bang & Olufsen stores for a recommended retail price of R56 630.
