The MSSA (Mind Sports South Africa) has announced the local Fifa and WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne Players which will represent South Africa at the 2010 IeSF (International e-Sports Federation) Grand Finals from 28 October 2010 to 1 November 2010 in Daegu, South Korea.
The 2010 Protea Team is without doubt the strongest team yet to leave South Africa for South Korea, as well as being probably the most committed team as well and There is no doubt that the standard of play in South Africa is continually improving exponentially, and with a little more hard work, the South African standard will soon rival that of many European and Asian countries.
Many of the South Africans who are in the team have made huge sacrifices in order to be selected, and each player has demonstrated their true character.
It is never easy to venture of into the unknown and take on all-comers while laying your reputation on the line for all to see. For that is the test of the competitor and the sign of true bravery, and these are our gaming heroes.
At the award ceremony, the President of the MSSA, Mr. Colin Webster stressed the importance of the players complying to the Code of Conduct and emphasised the importance of the gamers behaving in a manner at all times so as to be a credit to all the people of South Africa.
It was noted that it is not good enough for a gamer just to be a good gamer, but that the gamer must also a credit to the country.
The competition is also stiffer than ever before. The number of nations competing has grown from a modest eight in 2008 to 31 in 2010.
