ICASA finalising Digital TV rules

The big guns will be out in force for public hearings into the Draft Regulations for Digital Terrestrial Television from today to Wednesday.
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has announced that there will be public hearings on the Draft Regulations for Digital Terrestrial Television (Draft DTT Regulations). This follows the publication of the Amendment of the Digital Migration Policy by the Minister of Communications on 7 February 2012.

ICASA published the Draft Regulations on 28 September 2011 and invited interested parties, stakeholders, and the public to respond to the issues raised in the Draft Regulations. The closing date for the receipt of written representations was 10 November 2011. The Authority received 18 submissions. 17 of these have indicated their wish to make oral presentations.

The public hearings will be held from today, 12 March, to Wednesday,14 March, at Icasa’s Presentation Room in Block C, ,Pinmill Farm, Sandton.
