Three contestants will go head to head and battle it out for the title of ‚Amazing Racer’ as they dash around two cities in two days in The Amazing Race challenge with Huawei. The six-leg competition between three media houses kicks off in Johannesburg on 8 November 2011 and culminates in Cape Town on 9 November 2011.

Cleo Magazine’s Roxanne Fagri, the rose amongst the thorns will go up against technology website Gadget’s Sean Bacher and IT News Africa’s Charles Fripp. The contestants have no clue what is in store for them, all they know is that there are fantastic prizes up for grabs and it will be an opportunity to exclusively test Huawei’s latest devices.

For those who are unfamiliar with the popular reality television show, Amazing Race is a competition between contestants, in a race around the world striving to arrive at ‚pit stops’ first, at the end of each leg of the race. The aim is to arrive at the stops first and anything but first, carries the possibility of elimination or a significant disadvantage in the following leg. The clues (cryptic hints) provided in each leg lead the contestants to the next destination or direct them to perform a task ‚ until the last leg of the race.

According to Huawei’s Marketing Director: Devices, Eastern & Southern Africa Region, Liza de Wet, the concept for the Amazing Race challenge came about during a brainstorm of how journalists can creatively test and exclusively review devices ahead of its launch in 2012.

‚Each contestant will be equipped with Huawei’s Vision cellphone and a cash injection of R1000 that has to see them through the entire six legs of the competition. Huawei Devices are excited about the competition and we wish all three contestants the best of luck,‚ says de Wet.
