CES: Heated razor takes people’s gadget award

A shaving innovation takes choice Best of CES prize, while a hamburger is the surprise big winner.

The product that won over the most hearts and minds at the CES 2019 expo in Las Vegas this week was named on Thursday as the Heated Razor by GilletteLabs.

Launched last year on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform (see https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-heated-razor-by-gillettelabs-sold-out#/), it warms the face while it shaves. It is claimed to “deliver the comfort of a hot towel with every stroke”, and features “warming technology that heats in less than a second to provide continuous soothing warmth on your skin”.

The official “Best of CES” awards were chosen by editors at the technology and culture publication, Engadget. They applied their extensive knowledge of the tech industry to scouring the show floor for the very best of the best at CES, choosing a winner in each of 16 highly competitive categories based on level of innovation, design, market appeal and functionality. The winners ranged from next-generation virtual reality devices to autonomous cars and smart cities.

The biggest winner was Impossible Burger 2.0 from Impossible Foods (https://impossiblefoods.com/newrecipe/, Twitter: https://twitter.com/ImpossibleFoods), which took three awards. It eliminates animal products from food, with a mission to make fake meat taste as good as the real thing.
